This painting is unique and original and was painted entirely by me. The hull form was copied from a black and white sketch by Wm. Van de Velde, and the sail form, rigging and background detail were composed by me.

The Worcester of 1651.

The Worcester was launched in 1651. She played a part in the Battle of Dover (1651), Battle of Portland (February 1643), Battle of the Gabbard (June 1653), the 1st Battle of Scvengingen (July 1653), and battles at Porta Farina (1655) and Santa Cruz (1657). She was renamed Dunkirk in 1660 and her armanent increased to 60 guns. She was rebuilt at Blackwall Yard in 1704, dismantled in 1729, and rebuilt and launched at Portsmouth in 1734.
