This painting is unique and original and was painted entirely by me. The hull form was copied from a black and white sketch by Wm. Van de Velde, and the sail form, rigging and background detail were composed by me.

The Royal William of 1719. Taken from a model in the Maritime Museum, Grenwich. Later I descovered that this model was a model only, and the timbers intended for her construction were not used until much later, and subsequent models incorporated a different inboard structure that is shown here.
