In 1943 she operated with the British Home Fleet, patrolling the Norwegian coast where the German battleship Tirpitz was hiding. Thereafter she returned to the Pacific for a second tour of duty in company with battleships South Carolina,  Indiana,  Alabama, Massechusetts and Washington and participated in major actions leading up to the surrender of Japan.
